New Zealand Head Coach Position

Further to our earlier calls for expressions of interest, Yachting New Zealand has confirmed funding for a full time Head Coach and seeks final applications.

Yachting New Zealand Academy Coaching Programme now has confirmed funding for 2001/2002. Those that have not already expressed interest in the previously advertised Head Coach position are invited to do so before Friday, July 19.

Yachting New Zealand will contract three coaches full time next summer over the following disciplines: single handed, double handed and boards coach - one of whom will be appointed Head Coach in August 2001. We hope to secure the services of three World class coaches again this year and are looking for suitable persons with considerable coaching experience at the highest level.

The Head Coach position is a full-time 12 month position aimed to develop New Zealand's future champions as well as managing two other short term coaches in the Olympic disciplines. The Head Coach will be expected to have been involved in previous Olympic campaigns as a coach and/or sailor and have management and coaching abilities of exceptional standards. In addition a background in technical aspects of high performance sailing such as sail and yacht design or sports science would be an advantage as would an understanding of what it takes to train international champions.

Those interested in the Head Coach position are asked to apply along with a resume of relevant coaching experience to Yachting New Zealand's High Performance Manager, Peter Lester before July 19 (peter@yachtingnz.org.nz).We will advertise again for discipline coaches (October to June contracts) after a decision on the Head Coach has been
made.
