ISAF Nations Cup 2006

Seve JARVIN and Nicky SOUTER will lead the Australian teams in the ISAF Nations Cup 2006. Contested in supplied equipment to provide a level playing field for all nations, the ISAF Nations Cup will provide these two rising stars of the match racing world with one of the stiffest tests of their career so far.
SOUTER finished sixth at the Virtual Spectator ISAF Women's Match Racing World Championship and has been Australian Women's Match Racing Champion for the last two years running. JARVIN is the latest in a line of top young match racers emerging from the Aussie stable and has had a fantastic couple of weeks, winning both the ISAF Grade 3 Bavaria International Youth Match Racing and the ISAF Grade 3 HARKEN International Youth Match Racing Championship on his home waters.

As the defending nation in the Women's event, Australia receives direct entry to the ISAF Grade 1 Grand Final, which will be held by the Royal Cork Yacht Club in Ireland from 5-9 September 2006. Meanwhile the Men's team will compete at the ISAF Grade 2 Oceania Regional Final in Auckland, New Zealand from 19-24 April, in the quest for a Grand Final berth.

At the Regional Finals, up to ten entries in each division (open and women) will be accepted, on a first come first served basis. MNA's will be allocated to Regional Finals by ISAF on a regional basis as far as possible.

MNA's should request an invitation by 15 December, 2005, nominating their skipper, and ISAF will respond with an invitation to enter. If more than ten entries are received at a Regional Final, the entries may be split and a second Regional Final held for that 'region'. Such a split may be done based on skipper points, in the same manner as splitting skippers into groups for a round robin series.

The closing date for MNA's to apply for a place at a Regional Final and for the current holders of the Nations Cup for men and women and the host nation of the Grand Final, Ireland to confirm their participation at the Grand Final is 15 December 2005. After that date individual skipper entries from Nations whose MNA has not applied for a place will be considered and that entry must be subsequently endorsed by their MNA.

The Notice of Race and Invite Request Form for the Regional Finals and Grand Final is available on the ISAF Nations Cup microsite -
