Grimaldi Holds Lead Into Day Three.
J24 World Championships
Osaka
In lighter winds than Monday, Juan Grimaldi (ARG) of the 'MAPFRE YORK' team managed to stay ahead of the 'SIESTA COSMOS' team by finishing with a first and third to the Japanese team's two second place finishes.
The lighter winds caused some headaches for a number of teams with a large number of protest flags being seen after the windward mark. Hugo Ottaway on AUS155 found himself looking for a way to patch his boat after taking a hit from Team 'SOKOKUMARU'. Although unable to finish the race, AUS 155 bounced back with a 10th place finish in the second race of the day.
The International Jury spent a long evening sorting out a record setting 16 protests. Arbitration continues to be be a effective tool sorting a number of protests including a six boat incident.
Wednesday weather forecast will bring more record temperatures with consistent light south westerly sea breeze.
