11 Metre One Design World Championship

<P>Going into the last day three Swedish boats were all closely vying for the Championship
The penultimate race was sent off in a breeze of 15
knots with all the boats 10 seconds or more late for the start. First boat
around the windward mark was Australian skipper Chris Carlile on Blue Chip
showing early strength, with SBAB close behind. The breeze dropped to 12 knots
for the last lap which saw Frenzy and Hi Q consolidate their gains and Blue

After an incident between Hi Q and Ultimate Tune at the start
of race 10, Ultimate Tune retired. SBAB rounded the windward mark first. SBAB
retained the lead ahead of Frenzy and then Hi Q around the first leeward mark.
By the second lap Accenture had retired and wind strength picked up to 20 to 24
knots. Hi Q moved into 2nd place behind SBAB with Frenzy continuing her strong
showing. SBAB held on to their lead throughout the race to take the
championships overall.
