Light Winds Shuffle The Fleet

Light wind for day five with a large swell left over from the previous day's southerly winds. The fleet was held on the beach for about three hours waiting for the large swell to die down. When they finally got out to the race area the sea was still v...
The best option on the start line was to head for the starboard end as the current was washing everyone down on the start line so much it was hard to make it across the line on starboard tack. Styles & May (GBR) sailed a good first leg rounding 1st from Roman Hagara (AUT) and Helge Sachs (GER). The downwind was very tricky with very large patches of no wind and the first 3 boats were swallowed by one of these 1/2 way down the leg. The wind steadied up the next beat and Styles pulled back a place on the German putting them 2nd. This order was maintained until the finish in the dying wind.
