Race one started on schedule at 13:00 hours and Spanish sailors Marco SEVILIA SCHACHERMAIER and Roberto SEVILA led the fleet to the first top mark. Australian pair Ian MCCROSSIN and James COOK put the gas on and took the lead at mark three, which they held to take the first bullet of the regatta. SEVILIA SCHACHERMAIER and SEVILA were second with Gines REMERO and Alvaro MORENO (ESP) in third. The first Kiwis were Paul SCOFFIN and Pavel RUZICKA in fourth.
Following one general recall, race two got away clean under a Z flag. Kiwi's Andrew MCKEE and Matt BISMARK led at mark one hotly pursued by Hungarian sailors and title favourites Szabolcs MAJTHENYI and András DOMOKOS, Australian sailors Norman RYDGE and Richard SCARR and REMERO and MORENO. On the final beat to finish places continued to change which saw the Hungarians take the bullet from the Kiwis MCKEE and BISMARK who finished second. American's Lin ROBSON and Ian GREGG got through to third.
Overall positions see Hungarian sailors MAJTHENYI and DOMOKOS, in first on equal points with Spanish sailors REMERO and MORENO in second. The leading New Zealand sailors are SCOFFIN and RUZICKA in third.
