A former Commodore of the CYCA, KELLETT is currently chairman of Yachting Australia's Offshore Keelboat Committee and has been appointed as ISAF's technical delegate for the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition in Qingdao, China.
In his long career in ocean racing, KELLETT has skippered many yachts in the Sydney Hobart Race, including Sovereign, the only Australian yacht among the five that have won the double of line and handicap honours in the 60 year history of the event.
For the past five years he has headed the CYCA communications team aboard the Radio Relay Vessel that traditionally escorts the fleet on the 628 nm race south.
For WINNING this will be his sixth voyage to Hobart, the previous five as a crewmember on the maxis yachts Apollo and Ballyhoo (including line honours in 1976) and the former Admiral's Cup yacht Love & War.
KELLETT and his team and WINNING and his crew are typical of the many volunteers from the CYCA and The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania who each year give their time and skills in making the blue water classic an icon of Australian summer sport.
The 61st Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will start at 1320 hours local time on Boxing Day 26 December 2005.
