As the dust settles on the 2011 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship in Zadar, Croatia the spotlight has moved to Ireland as Dublin prepares to host the 42nd ISAF Youth Worlds in Dun Laoghaire.
Throughout the duration of the 41st ISAF Youth Worlds part of the Dublin Bay 2012 Organizing Committee were out Zadar learning and taking notes from the hard working team of staff and volunteers.
Brian Craig, Dublin Bay 2012 Chairman, said, "We've been looking at different aspects of the regatta. Some of us were in Istanbul last time as well. So I think you see people do things differently, all the venues are different and people work to their strengths."
The 2012 ISAF Youth worlds will take place on Dublin Bay and will be based at Dun Laoghaire. The Royal St. George Yacht Club has been appointed to host the championship in association with the National Yacht Club. Craig said, "We're in good shape. There's been a lot of interest in it, both public and from the sailing community in Ireland. A group of about 50 have been working on this project for about four years now."
And the Dublin Bay 2012 Chairman added, "This is the biggest yachting event ever to come to Ireland. We've had some big races but from the pure sports side this really is the biggest thing we've ever done.
"Ireland is really going to pull behind this event; there is no doubt about that."
