St. Lucian sailor Stephanie Devaux-Lovell sailed the Byte at the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games finishing 23rd.
Fast forward one year and Devaux-Lovell is in Zadar, Croatia sailing at her first ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship.

She is joined by fellow St. Lucian sailor Scott Anthony-Keleous and the Laser Radial sailors are both on the ISAF Athlete Participation Programme benefitting from the coaching and guidance of World Youth Sailing Trust coach Hugh Styles.

On the coaching received after meeting Hugh Styles yesterday Devaux-Lovell said, "Hugh Styles is really easy to work with and talk to."

Many of the sailors in Zadar, Croatia have large regatta experience having previously sailed in the 2009 or 2010 ISAF Youth Worlds in Buzios, Brazil and Istanbul, Turkey or the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. And the experience proves valuable, Devaux-Lovell added, "I did pretty well at the Youth Olympic Games. I met my goal and it was an incredible experience."

The conditions in Zadar, Croatia consist of winds in the range of 10-12 knots in glorious sunshine, conditions that the St. Lucian sailors are used to, "It is great. I really love the weather and the wind. It is perfect wind for me."

And Anthony-Keleous added, "It is great, there are a lot of boats and my first time sailing. What I want to achieve in the ISAF Ytouth World is to be in the top ten or top five. But what I want to be sailing as fast as I can."

View a full interview with Devaux-Lovell as she talks about her experiences at the Youth Olympic Games, the coaching she has been given and she talks about her chances at the ISAF Youth Worlds.
