Race 2 was started in a bit less wind, but still enough for the crew to "hike"! Noel BUTLER and his mate Stephen Champion (would this be a coincidence??), finished first again!!! But USA was very close, with a second place. So the third race would still be exciting.
No time to waste, the wind was still good, so the race committee did not gave the sailer much time for a lunch / teabreak / siësta. The pistol was shot for the last race, but about 2 minutes before the start, the race was postponed, because the wind shifted about 15 degrees. Allart and his crew waited a few minutes for the wind to stabelise and again gave the 5 minutes signal. This time, no more General Recalls or postponement, all sailers left the line, up to the upper mark.
Allthough the wind at some moments disappeared, the waves did not, so it was quite difficult to keep up speeding. The fight continued and resulted in a PROTEST shout of the USA team. Noel and Stephen did not do a 720 penalty, so this battle would continue in the protest room. Finally a small Dutch party, because Jurjen and Maarten (NED) managed to sail a first place, welldone. Unfortunately, it was not enough to become the first dutchies. This place was taken by the boat named Herman, sailed by Robert JANSSEN and Aletta LÜCHTENBORG (NED).
