As the Semaine Olympique Française began in Hyères and the Olympic and Paralympic sailors were gearing up for the fourth regatta in the ISAF Sailing World Cup series, the selection trials for the French ISAF Youth Worlds team began.
Held over Easter weekend in three locations around France, the regattas were being delivered with the assistance of many clubs including the National sailing school (Ecole National de Voile), the French Sailing Federation Voile (FFV), staff, coaches and volunteers.
The first step of the selection is to stream line the large entry down to two individuals in each class. One of these two individuals after further contests and training will be selected to be part of the FFV Youth team to attend the ISAF Youth World Championships in July in Zadar, Croatia.
With only a few minor delays, the conditions played ball and ten races were delivered over four days with wind conditions ranging 4 to 15 knots.
The sailors were really motivated to be in the top two to get a chance to be able to get qualified for the 2011 ISAF Youth Worlds. The standard was high as ever with the sailors attending after preparing in their regions around France.
The Selection Committee will make the final selection from the list of sailors below:
Mikael Houdet and Charles Edouard Collet
and Adrien Santerre
and Julien Bloyet
Lucas Rual and Thomas Bitton
and Aloïse Retornaz
Laure Frechaux and Juliette Le Friec
