On 29 March 2011 the World Youth Sailing Trust met with ISAF to approve the Trust's annual accounts and were joined in the meeting by the newly appointed World Youth Sailing Trust Coach, Hugh Styles (GBR).
Styles will be present at the 2011 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships in Zadar, Croatia from 7-16 July to coach sailors on ISAF's Athlete Participation Programme (APP). He will be helping the young sailors with their racing skills, and will play a vital role in supporting the sailors in all on and off water aspects of the regatta.

Carlos Ribeiro Ferreira, Alan Sanders, Brian Southcott and Chris Atkins of the WYST met with ISAF's Secretary General Jerome Pels, Head of Administration Helen Fry and Administration and Accounts Secretary Rachel Butt.

The World Youth Sailing Trust supports young sailors from emerging sailing nations at the ISAF Youth World Championship by funding coaches to help them compete on a more level playing field with those sailors from better-funded countries.

Following Styles' appoint he has given his role a lot of thought as he outlined the goals he hopes to achieve when coaching the APP sailors.

An integral part of his plan is to make and keep contact with the sailors early on and establish links with the young sailors through social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

From this he will be able to assess their abilities and prepare them for what to expect from what can be a daunting time for the young sailors as they head to Croatia.

His enthusiastic approach to coaching and his visions for what can be achieved extend beyond this year's ISAF Youth Worlds and he has a clear focus on the long term legacy for the sailors.
