The winner will take all the spoils in tomorrows Laser Medal Race as just two points separate Tom Slingsby (AUS), Paul Goodison (GBR) and Nick Thompson (GBR) at the top of the standings.

Slingsby, top of the standings on 37 points, had a mixed day today finishing first in Race 9 before finishing 18th in Race 10. Goodison had a similar day finishing 17th in Race 9 and won Race 10, his cumulative points total of 38 see him sit one point behind the Australian.

Thompson's fortunes were also varied today; he finished with a scorecard of 25-8 and heads into the Medal Race on 39 points.

The three leaders will all have a chance to grab gold tomorrow, whoever finishes at the front of the three will be crowned champion.

In the Laser Radial the first four days belonged to Paige Railey (USA) and Evi Van Acker (BEL) who exchanged the lead during the eight races. But at the end of a ten race card Sara Winther (NZL), on 57 points, leads the fleet ahead of the Medal Race.

Railey had a disappointing penultimate day finishing 24th in Race 9 and fourth in Race 10 to finish on 70 points. Meanwhile Van Acker stayed in contention with Winther and her 62 points means she trails by five points.

Veronika Fenclova (CZE) is in third on 65 points. Despite Annalise Murphy's (IRL) fantastic start to the regatta, which saw her start with a 2-1 on the opening day, she could not continue her form and fell one point short of a place in the Medal Race. Nonetheless It should be a gripping Laser Radial Medal Race in Palma.

Emmanuel Dyen and Stéphane Christidis (FRA) have guaranteed themselves at least a silver medal in the 49er fleet after an impressive fifth day in Palma.

The French duo bounced back after a disappointing fourth day to finish for a strong card of 3-4-1. They have extended their overnight four point lead to ten points after nearest rivals Pietro Sibello and Gianfranco Sibello finished 7-2-5.

The Italians will have to hope that the French duo finish sixth or worse, and that they themselves win tomorrow's Medal Race.

Allan Norregaard and Peter Lang (DEN) are third in the 49er fleet on 113 points.

In the Star, Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson (GBR) have won the gold medal ahead of the Medal Race. The British pair have an unassailable 27 point lead over Diego Negri and Enrico Vortolini (ITA) and Torben Grael and Marcelo Ferreira (BRA).

Nicolas Charbonnier and Jeremie Mion (FRA) have extended their lead over Pierre Leboucher and Vincent Garos (FRA) in the men's 470. Charbonnier and Mion have a nine point advantage of their compatriots after finishing 2-15 in today's racing.

Thierry Schmitter (NED) has also claimed the gold medal in the 2.4mR. In all bar one of his races he finished in the top three and came ahead of Heiko Kröger (GER), who claimed silver, and Megan Pascoe (GBR) who claimed bronze.

The top three remain the same in the RS:X classes with Marina Alabau (ESP) set to start the Medal Race with a good lead over her opponents. She has already secured a gold or silver medal. Charline Picon (FRA) is also guaranteed to finish on the podium. Laura Linares (ITA) is in third.

In the men's RS:X, Dorian Van Rijsselberge (NED) has a six point advantage over Nick Dempsey (GBR) heading into the Medal Race. Tom Ashley (NZL) is third, 16 points behind van Rijsselberge.

Only Ben Ainslie (GBR) and Giles Scott (GBR) are able to win gold in the Medal Race. But the favourite has to be Ainslie who has 20 points compared to Scott's 34 points. Scott will have to hope Ainslie has a bad day and he performs to his best if he is to claim the gold medal.

Ainslie said, "We'll see how I get on tomorrow. The Medal Races are always tight, it's obviously double points so I've got to go out and sail another good race and hopefully I can do that and make it all count."

In the Women's Match Racing, Sally Barkow (USA) beat Anna Tunnicliffe (USA) 3-2 in the semi-final to advance to the final. She will face Silja Lehtinen (FIN), who defeated Claire Leroy (FRA) 3-1 in the second semi-final.
