Barcelona Olympic Sailing Week 2005

A fleet full of Olympic medal winners and sailors ranked in the top ten of the ISAF World Sailing Rankings are in Barcelona for the Pharo Regatta where racing begins this weekend.
The 2005 PHÂRO Regatta-Barcelona Olympic Sailing Week will see the participation of the main sailing figures of the world. Around 200 crews from 20 different countries will take part in this Catalonian regatta.

At the event will be four Olympic medallists as well as seven sailors ranked in the top ten of the ISAF World Sailing Rankings.

Silver medal winners in the Athens Olympic Games Natàlia VIA-DUFRESNE and Sandra AZÓN (ESP) will be appearing in the 470 Women fleet. However for this week VIA-DUFRESNE will be sailing with Laia TUTZÓ (ESP). Meanwhile AZÓN is teaming up with her sister Mònica AZÓN (ESP) and Graciela PISONERO (ESP) in the Yngling.

The third medal winner is Rafa TRUJILLO in Finn. In the Tornado sailing with Carolijn BROUWER (NED) is silver medallist in Atlanta 1996, Sabastien GODEFROID (BEL).

From the top ten of the ISAF World Sailing Rankings comes Rafa TRUJILLO (ESP), number one in the Finn World Ranking; the Gabrio ZANDONA (ITA), number one in the 470 Men with Francesco DELLA TORRE (ITA); Fernando ECHÁVARRI and Antón PAZ (ESP), number five in the Tornado; Natàlia VIA-DUFRESNE, number six in the 470 Women with Laia TUTZÓ; Giafranco SIBELLO and Pietro SIBELLO (ITA), number seven in the 49er; Mònica AZÓN and Graciela PISONERO (ESP), number nine in the Yngling and; Diego NEGRI (ITA), number ten in the Laser.
