Star South American Championship
Mar del Plata, Argentina
Brazil's Alessandro Pascolato and Henry Raul Boening had an excellent opening day at the Star South American Championship after they won the opening two races.
Fellow Brazilian's
Lars Grael and
Ronald Seifert finished behind the leaders twice whilst Argentines
Alberto Zanetti and
Nicolas Rosas finished 3-4 to take third place after the opening day at Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Pascolato sailed extremely well on the opening day to take a commanding lead whilst #8 in the world Grael had to settle with two second place finishes.
During the second race Grael came close to defeating Pascolato but he chose the wrong side at the second upwind which ultimately cost him the victory.
During the day there were several DNF's due to broken masts and sails. The sailors started repairing their damaged boats early in the afternoon in preparation for the second day of racing.
