VIII Open de España

UK representative Ian Williams showed why he is the favourite at the Open de España, after winning all of his matches sailed on the opening day in Calpe, Spain.
Ian Williams defeated Reuben Corbett (NZL), Simone Ferrarese (ITA) Keith Swinton (AUS) and Spanish skipper Manu Weiller.

French veteran Bertrand Pacé also enjoyed a good day by winning three of his four matches on the day. Only Finland's Staffan Lindberg beat the America's Cup skipper.

Behind them, seven teams are tied with two victories so a battle to get a place in the semi-final is guaranteed.

The weather forecast for the second day is smooth winds and calm sea. The Organization expects to start the races at 11 a.m. and if the wind strength allows it, to complete as many races as possible.
