Princess Sofia Trophy 2005
Palma de Mallorca, Spain

515 boats from 34 nations have already entered the 36th edition of the ISAF Grade 2 Trofeo Princessa Sofia in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Many sailors are already training in the Bay of Palma, well aware that it is one of the most important regattas of the dinghy sailing calendar, both at national and international level. The regatta atmosphere is already warming up, especially at Club Nàutic s'Arenal and Real Club Náutico de Palma, venues for the 49er and Dragon classes.

The racing is sure to be even more competitive this year as Real Federación Española de Vela has chosen the regatta as one of the selection events for the Spanish pre-Olympic sailing team towards Beijing 2008.

The Organising Committee has cancelled the participation of the Star and Neil Pryde RS:X classes because of a lack of competitors. The proximity of the Star World Championships resulting in the low level of entrants for this Olympic discipline.

The Laser is the class has the highest number of entries (69) followed by the Europe men (52) and then the 49er, Dragon and 470 M classes (48).

The different classes participating in the Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia will sail in six racing areas distributed in the Bay of Palma as follows: Alfa for the 49er class, Bravo for the Finn and 470 M & W, Charlie for Tornado, Delta for Europe and Mistral, Echo for Dragon and Yngling, and Foxtrot for Laser and Laser Radial.

The 36th edition of the Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia for dinghy sailing will be held from 19 to 25 March 2005. The IMS cruiser event, the second event of the Spanish Championship, will be held from 29 April to 1 May.
