Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

At 12 noon today, Sydney yachtsman Andrew SHORT nominated his Volvo 60, Andrew Short Marine, for the 60th anniversary Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. It was the 100th Application to Enter the ocean classic.
By the 5pm deadline, nominations were double last year's fleet of 56 and still flowing in. Because of the late interest, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia has extended the deadline to lodge Applications to Enter until 5pm next Friday, 12 November.

Commodore Martin JAMES said the club was delighted with the response from yacht owners throughout Australia and overseas to be part of the 60th anniversary of the famous ocean race.

"Not only have they supported the race, but they have been extremely helpful in getting the vital documentation in early to the Sailing Office," he said, explaining that as a result, the Club race administration was a position to handle a number of possible late entries.

"We feel there may be a few yacht owners who think they may have 'missed the boat' - we are giving them an extra week to be part of this great celebration of ocean yacht racing,"
Commodore James added.

Details of Applications to Enter the 60th Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race are now available on the official web site at the address below.
