Today, Thursday 18 November 2004, ISAF has launched its "new look" website, which we hope you will find easier to navigate and much more user friendly. Focus has been on the web mapping to guide users to information more swiftly.
ISAF first entered the dot.com arena in 1995, pushed by then ISAF President Paul HENDERSON (CAN). Paul cites ones of his greatest contributions to the sport as the advent of www.sailing.org. With more than 16,000 unique users per day on average, tallying up to 80,000 unique users during the Olympics, ISAF has a strong customer base.
As an accolade to Paul HENDERSON and his significant contributions to the ISAF website, ISAF tributes the "new look" ISAF website to Paul.
Some new features of the revised site are:
- New graphical design
- Revised menu structure
- Popup menus to allow easier navigation with direct access to more pages on the site
- Smaller file sizes to speed downloads, especially to users on dial up lines
- The addition of a full site map to allow better access to the site
- Improved access to past news items
Webmasters planning to refer to content in the website, it is recommended that they review www.sailing.org/webmaster for useful information.
The ISAF website was overdue for an update, having last been updated in the late 1990's. Amongst others, further improvements still to come to the ISAF website, include translation options (Spanish and French), PDA version of the site, results data transfer, expanded email services and image library.
