Harry Nye Trophy Presented To John KOOPMAN

ISAF International Measurer, John KOOPMAN (USA) has received the 2005 Harry Nye Trophy for his outstanding long term service to the Star Class.
The 2005 Harry Nye Memorial Trophy was given to John F. KOOPMAN on 10 March in Miami, Fl, USA. The award is given to individuals who provide exceptional service to the Star Class over an extended period. The Class Management Committee unanimously voted to award the 2005 Trophy to John at the recent meeting in Argentina.

John has served as the Chief Measurer for the International Star Class since 1997, presiding over nine Star Class World Championships and the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. He has done excellent work developing new techniques to enforce our specifications, in an era when technical developments are testing the class rules. John has spent many days on behalf of the Class coordinating with ISAF and other international groups and in addition, has performed he role of Principal Race Officer for the past two World Championships, one on very short notice.
