420 Junior European Championship
Dun Laoghaire

George VASSILAS with Evangelos MITAKIZ regained the overall lead of the Liffey Developments 420 Junior Europeans yesterday as the event discard came into force. Their previous 33 was dropped and two thirds and a 14 brought them back into the lead.
Wednesday's winning crew of Emanuelle ROL and Anne Sophie THILO from Switzerland have overtaken Joanne MacDONALD and Laurie MARSDEN from Britain as top female crew in eighth and ninth places respectively.

Of the two Irish crews in the Gold fleet, Simon MITTON and Cillian MAGEE saw slippage from their previous 25th overall to 27 while Kenneth RIMBALL and David MORAN are now 39 overall.

Portugal's Piedade COLACO and Diana NEVES continue to lead the Silver fleet after winning yesterday's single race. However, their division was sent ashore after the breeze appeared to drop but later continued to build. The Race Committee responded to complaints from the fleet by planning to start Friday's final day with an extra race for the Silver fleet in the morning.
