Adam ROBERTS and Nicholas MARTIN from the United States moved into the overall lead of the Liffey Developments 420 Junior Europeans at Dun Laoghaire yesterday when the pair added a second place to their 12th overall for the qualifier series.
Yesterday's winning crew was Emanuelle ROL and Anne Sophie THILO from Switzerland. Joanne Macdonald and Laurie MARSDEN from Britain scored a tenth place, one of their lower results of the week but with a seventh overall from the pre-qualifiers still lie fourth overall.
Qualification series winners George VASSILAS with Evangelos MITAKIZ slipped from form yesterday and were at 15th overall after a 33rd place. The Greek pair were unsuccessful in a redress hearing and will be hoping to discard the result if sufficient races can be sailed.
Two Irish crews qualified for the Gold fleet with Simon MITTON and Cillian MAGEE were best in 25th place overall while Kenneth RUMBALL and David MORAN were 36 overall.
Portugal's Piedade COLACO and Diana NEVES lead the Silver fleet after winning yesterday's single race. Ireland's Lisa TAIT and Pippa WILKINSON lie sixth in the division after a fourth place.
More foggy conditions hampered the racing schedule and with visibility again reduced to less than 100 metres at times, just one race of the Final series was sailed.
