Lake Garda Optimist Meeting 2005

Next weekend more than six hundred Optimist class helmsmen will meet for the traditional Easter Meeting, planned on 24-27 March. The regatta boasts an appearance amongst the Guinness Book of World Records, for the largest number of competitors.
The meeting at Fraglia Della Vela will see the very young sailors of the 'A Division' (born between 1995-1996) face seven races, whilst the 'B Division' helmsmen (born between 1991-1994) will fight in a fleet race, in groups (three fleets, two groups each) for a total of ten races.

Last year's event was won by Maria OTTAVIA RAGGIO of the Circolo Velico La Spezia (A Division), and Poland's Kacper ZIEMINSKI (B Division). Third place in the Juniors and first Italian was Martino TORTAROLO of the Italian Yacht Club.

Later in the season several other events are planned to take place on Lake Garda including: on 10-14 May the Eurolymp, the selection week of the Olympic classes; on 17-18 June the National Championship Dolphin 81; on 22-25 June the Laser European Championship will be coming to Italy and; on 29 June-3 July the World Championship Byte class.
