Tornado European Championship
Las Palmas, Gran Canaria

Sydney 2000 Olympic silver medallists and current Tornado class world champions, Darren BUNDOCK and John FORBES sailed so consistently throughout the regatta, they won the title with a race to spare.
The final day of racing, like most days of competition at the Championship, was contested with great wind and sea conditions. In the Aussie crew's only race of the day, they finished 6th overall.

In an interview with Forbes before leaving for the European summer circuit he said, "it is on of one of our main aims coming into 2004, to win the Mats Nyberg Trophy again this year".

The pair, who have not sailed together since winning the world championship in September 2003, are already back on track.

One of Bundock and Forbes' major challengers, Sydney 2000 Olympic Gold medallist, Román HAGARA and Meter STEINACKERG (AUT) finished fourth overall in the Mats Nyberg Trophy.
Winner of the 2004 European Championship title, was world number one ranked and Olympic medallists, Mitch BOOTH and Herbert DERCKSEN (NED). The crew from the Netherlands finished second overall to Bundock and Forbes for the Mats Nyberg Trophy.
