At a Special General Meeting on Tuesday 27 January, Clubs approved the State Authority's change of name from The Yachting Association of NSW to Yachting New South Wales.
On the surface, this may not seem significant, however the change of name brings the State Authority in line with Yachting Australia and the majority of State Yachting Authorities, giving yachting a national branding.
"The timing of this event is ideal",
said Yachting New South Wales' General Manager, Andrew HAMILTON, "as it coincides with the adoption of the Yachting Australia brand and logo and the unveiling of our revamped website which will be launched early next week.
"Our aim is to increase our profile in the marketplace. This organisation plays a vital role in the sport in NSW and through the new name and image, we intend to identify means of communicating this information to our members, as well as providing increased opportunities for our members to express their needs to us."
Some of the initiatives to be introduced will include a Forum for Clubs and Classes on Friday 5 March at Rozelle as part of Sail Expo and additional forums in regional areas of the State to hear of the concerns of regional Clubs.
