2004 Bacardi Bayview Mackinac Race
Port Huron to Mackinac Island

The 2004 Bacardi Bayview Mackinac Race, a 254-nm yacht race from Port Huron to Mackinac Island, once again will provide real-time online race entry, updates and results on the race web site available at the address below.
Developed by Interactive Creations, www.intercreate.com, a Grosse Pointe Woods, MI based internet development and marketing consulting firm, the real-time system ensures a seamless and continuous integration of the competitor's participation process from the race entry, scratch sheets, race updates and race results.

First of its kind for the sport of yacht racing, this system has been under development for over the last eight years and is already online for this year's event. As the skippers register their yachts online, their entry will immediately appear in the official regatta web site. The online registration system also provides them opportunity to submit their crew list information. Visitors to the site will be able to view complete information on every boat participating in the race. Later in June, the official scratch sheets will be available with details of each class along with all the starting times scheduled for this year's event.

Once the race starts on Saturday 17 July, the site will provide family, friends and all visitors with regular updates on the progress of the race. They can subscribe to have these updates sent directly to them via email. As the boats begin to cross the finish line, their finish times will be immediately entered. Corrected times will then be calculated and every participant's results with current standings will be displayed as they finish. As each boat finishes and their race performance is calculated, their standings may constantly change until the last boat in their class has finished. At that point the results and position for that class become provisional, pending any protests, etc.

"We have been developing and expanding the race web site since we started in 1996. With our racing participants coming from all over the country and abroad, we believe it is important to provide as much information in real-time as possible. Family and friends can follow the race as if they were there," said Luiz E. KAHL, President of Interactive Creations and the 2004 Assistant Race Chairman.

Registrations are currently open for the 2004 Bacardi Bayview Mackinac Race, which is scheduled to start the morning of Saturday 17 July in lower Lake Huron, north of Port Huron, Michigan, with the first boats crossing the finish at Mackinac Island, as early as late Sunday afternoon.

Organized by the Bayview Yacht Club since 1925, this event could not happen without the participation and support from the title sponsor Bacardi USA, NGS American, Meade Lexus Group, Sperry Top-Sider, Shepler's, Big Boy, Hawaiian Tropic, Petoskey Plastics, Inc., Gear for Sports, PRNewswire, BoatUS, Eventful Services, Ocean Spray, UK Sailmakers, Verizon, Sunsail, Coca-Cola, Meijer, Michigan Brewing, EarthLink, Chippewa Hotel, Lilac Tree Hotel, Interactive Creations, Thomas Hardware and AAA Web Hosting Corporation.
