Orlandi ANTONIO's IMS boat, TNT, with Vasco VASCOTTO at the wheel took the first short distance Coastal Race of the 2004 edition of the Pirelli Regatta on corrected time at the Yacht Club Italia yesterday.
On a day of hot sunshine when the typical thermal driven Sirocco blew South Easterly, the race area took crews on a 2.5 mile triangle in the Santa Margherita bay. A spectacular show of sails for everybody, competitors, race officials and spectators.
My song took line honours in the race, followed closely by the maxi "Idea SAI", owned by Raffaele Raiola, followed then by Sotto Voce in third. "We knew the wind conditions today would favour the IMS boats"
the skipper of Idea commented after racing.
Weather conditions were ideal for the Grand Soleil 42R "TNT" as Vascotto emphasized following racing "It was a beautiful race, conditions were ideal for us and the crew answered the test with a big win".
Racing continues today with a longer race that will take the huge fleet of boats offshore until 11 May. Full results are available on the event website at the address below.
