Sixteen nations will participate at the 2004 Paralympic Sailing Competition in Athens, Greece, with racing from 18-23 September 2004.
Based on the Paralympic Qualification System, 15 nations have qualified in the Three-Person Keelboat - Sonar and 16 in the Single-Person Keelboat - 2.4mR.
IFDS is currently receiving confirmation from the National Paralympic Committees on the athletes who will represent their nation, but based on information received so far the Sydney Silver Medallists in the Sonar Class, helmed by Jens Kroker (GER) will be back to defend their title. Australia, who claimed the Gold Medal in Sydney will defend their title in 2004 as will the Canadians the Bronze medal, but crews are yet to be confirmed.
Over in the 2.4mR, the Sydney Gold Medallist Heiko
KROGER (GER) will be in Athens, as will Bronze medallist Tom BROWN (USA). Denmark who claimed the Silver medal has qualified for the 2.4mR event, but are yet to confirm their athlete.
