The third day at the SPA Regatta was a day filled with sunshine. Although in the morning the wind was weak, all races have been sailed.
Laser sailor Zbogar VASILIJ won all races in his group and is firmly in the lead. After race nine with two discards, he has got 7 points.
Joeri van DIJK (NED) took the lead in the Mistral Men class putting Julien BONTEMPS (FRA) back to second place. The gap between the two men is three points. Joeri has got eleven points, Julien fourteen.
The leaders in the gold fleet of the 49-er class are Iker
MARTINEZ and Xavier FERNANDEZ (ESP). Michael
HESTBEK and Dennis DENGSOE in second place are only one point behind with a total of 23 points so the game is on for both teams.
The overall result leaders in the Star class are Ross
MACDONALD and Mike WOLFS (CAN). Leader in the Europe class Siren
SUNDBY finished third in two races and won the third. With the two discards she stays firmly on top of the list. But good news for the other Europe sailors: she can be beaten.
For the people present at the Regatta centre in Medemblik, there was a nice surprise yesterday. The 49-ers finished in the harbour, which created a spectacular view. It is intended to finish in the harbour each day.
