SPA Regatta

The third day at the SPA Regatta was a day filled with sunshine. Although in the morning the wind was weak, all races have been sailed.
Laser sailor Zbogar VASILIJ won all races in his group and is firmly in the lead. After race nine with two discards, he has got 7 points.

Joeri van DIJK (NED) took the lead in the Mistral Men class putting Julien BONTEMPS (FRA) back to second place. The gap between the two men is three points. Joeri has got eleven points, Julien fourteen.

The leaders in the gold fleet of the 49-er class are Iker MARTINEZ and Xavier FERNANDEZ (ESP). Michael HESTBEK and Dennis DENGSOE in second place are only one point behind with a total of 23 points so the game is on for both teams.

The overall result leaders in the Star class are Ross MACDONALD and Mike WOLFS (CAN). Leader in the Europe class Siren SUNDBY finished third in two races and won the third. With the two discards she stays firmly on top of the list. But good news for the other Europe sailors: she can be beaten.

For the people present at the Regatta centre in Medemblik, there was a nice surprise yesterday. The 49-ers finished in the harbour, which created a spectacular view. It is intended to finish in the harbour each day.

The organization of the SPA Regatta makes sailing available for the masses. Anyone who has got an internet connection can follow the Yngling and Tornado class on thanks to the tracking and tracing system of Armada security products.
