Ellen Nominated For World Sports Award

Ellen MACARTHUR

Ellen MacARTHUR (GBR) has been nominated in the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards.

The 28 year old who this year broke the single-handed round the world non-stop record has been nominated in the Alternative Sportsperson of the Year category.

MACARTHUR who took 1 day, 8 hours, 35 minutes and 49 seconds off the record set by Francis JOYON in 2004 will be up against five other athletes from explorers to mountain bikers.

Nominees for the Laureus World Sports Awards are chosen by a selection panel of over 400 sports journalists. Winners in each of the categories are then selected and will be announced on 16 May at the Awards Ceremony in Estoril, Portugal.
