Australia's highest ranked female match racer and former Australian champion Katie SPITHILL (21) has joined forces with current Australian champion Nicky SOUTER (19) to tackle the BoatUS ISAF Women's World Match Racing Championship.
They will be joined by Emma BULLOUGH (22), Spithill's long time bowman, and Stacey JACKSON (20) who, with Souter, took out three graded Australian events last year.
Whilst Spithill and Bullough are 'veterans' of three previous Worlds, reaching the semi-finals in 2002, and are experienced in the prescribed J22 class yachts, Souter and Jackson will bring an exciting and diverse mix of talent to the team which is based at Sydney's Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club.
Souter is a former Australian Open champion in the Flying 11 class who last year was a junior member of the Admiral's Cup winning crew of 'Wild Oats'.
Jackson, a sailmaker with North Sails, already has three Sydney to Hobart races under her belt, most recently on the Farr 52 'Ichi Ban'.
Spithill, Souter and Bullough also currently hold the New Zealand Women's Match Racing title.
The 2004 Worlds is sponsored by American marine retailing giant 'BoatUS' and will be hosted by Eastport Yacht Club in Maryland with the top 16 teams invited based on the ISAF World ranking list. For further information please visit the event website at the address below.
