Joico Australian Offshore Championship

The Joico Australian Offshore Championship, in association with Locman and Holden, will be hosted by the RPAYC from 3-7 March, 2004. For the first time ever, Holden have come on board as a sponsor to one of Yachting Australia's most prestigious events.
"Yachting Australia is thrilled about the new relationship with Holden. It is great to see an Australian icon like Holden get involved with a great sport like sailing" Said Yachting Australia President Graeme AINLEY.

This year the Championship will be held as part of the Joico Regatta and in conjunction with the Sydney 38 One Design Australian Championship.

Up to 70 boats and 800 competitors, including some of Australia's most famous offshore contenders are expected to clash for the title of Offshore Champion.

Admiral's Cup winner "Wild Oats", last year's Australian Offshore Championship winners "Ticket of Leave" and "Quest", and winner of the recent Sailing South Week and Skandia Geelong Week, "Ichi Ban", are just some of the famous yachts in this year's line up.

A mix of offshore distance and windward/leeward courses will ensure good racing as boats compete in nine races including a long distance race, over the five days of competition.

Entry into the Joico Australia Offshore Championship, in association with Locman and Holden, closes on the 26 February 2004.
