This year, the Round Texel organization introduces an annual prize for the best performing sailing club. On Saturday 11 June 2005, the world's biggest catamaran race around the wadden island of Texel will start for the 28th time.

About 600 teams are expected to challenge the elements and to test the endurance of their equipment and themselves. Since 1 March 123 teams have subscribed for the Zwitserleven Round Texel Race 2005.

Club members often travel together to Texel. Sometimes even in short laps over the North Sea. Round Texel co-ordinator Edwin LODDER: "We want to encourage these initiatives with a spezial prize, a red Zwitserleven couch for their club house. Hopefully, the Round Texel Race will become an annual trip for more sailing associations." Last year's promo area on the beach will return in 2005. Catamaran fans will find the newest developments there and they can get into contact with top sailors.

Round Texel Week 2005
On Saturday 11 June 2005, the starting signal of the Zwitserleven Round Texel will be sounded at 10:00 (local time). From Wednesday 8 up to and including Friday June 10, competitors can already explore the sailing area during the Texel Dutch Open. This championship consists of course races. Many sailors consider it as a training for the 'biggest cat race' on Saturday.

In addition, the Royal Dutch Sailing Federation has officially recognized the event as an Open Dutch Championship. On Thursday afternoon, people can traditionally sail the 'Horstocht'. On Friday afternoon, sponsors and press will be invited to compete in the VIP Race. It gives them the opportunity to experience catamaran sailing with a top sailor. During the Round Texel Week a social program offers relaxation on the Texel beach.
