The Sail Melbourne International Regatta is acclaimed as one of the Worlds top five "Off the Beach" sailing events.
It is an event that attracts competitors from around the world who know that not only will they have top level racing with close competition, but the opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of other sailors on shore at the end of each day. In 2004 athletes from 29 countries participated in Sail Melbourne.
In conjunction with the International Hobie Class Association and the Australian National Hobie Class Association Sail Melbourne will be conducting the Hobie World, Australian and Asia-Pacific Championships from 27 December 2004 through to 8 January 2005 inclusive. The Port Melbourne Yacht Club will host this exciting championship series on the shores of Port Phillip.
Port Phillip is recognised as one of the world's best open expanses of water for yacht racing. It is non-tidal with an afternoon sea breeze of 10-15 knots average wind strength. In January the climate is ideal with a daily average temperature of 25 - 30 degrees Celsius and warm water.

· Hobie 16 Australian Youth, Womens and Masters Championships
· Hobie Tiger Australian Championship
