Swedish Match Cup
Maarstrand

With three wins in a row Marie Björling and Team Panorama representing the host club, GKSS, won the final in the women's event at the ISAF Grade 1 Swedish Match Cup, on the west coast of Sweden.
Alongside the Championship title, they will receive 84 000 SEK in prize money to be shared between the crew on board. Behind the superior figures, three tough races, in rain and brisk winds, the lead shifted several times between Björling and her opponent, Lotte MELDGAARD PEDERSEN (DEN) and her Team Gerimax from KDY, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Speaking modestly after her win, Marie BJORLING commented, "We really didn't feel like we were dominating today."

However her final opponent, Lotte, was a little more direct, "Marie didn't make any mistake today, thus she won. We had it a little bit harder to get everything in order and to manage to do the manoeuvres."

Marie Björling and her crew in Team Panorama -Anna HOLMDAHL tactician, Jenny AXHEDE genoa trim, Elin ÅDERMAN by the mast, Elisabeth NILSSON on battery and Annika CARLUNGER on the bow - have won the Swedish Match Cup, women's class, for the third time in a row. Despite nine month of maternity leave Marie defeated Lotte Meldgaard Pedersen, who leads the ISAF World Match Race Rankings, who sails with trimmers Sille CHRISTENSEN, Anette ROM and Caroline CLAUSEN, Anne MÖRUP mainsheet and Mia NIELSEN on the bow. The question now is when more than if Marie regains the position as number one in the world.
