Farr 40 Euromed Championship

The first day of the Deutsche Bank Farr 40 Euromed Championship was completed yesterday with three races sailed on the waters of Porto Cervo.
The sixteen crews were treated to a day of light shifting breeze for this first day of the 26th edition of the Settimana della Bocche, the final stage of the International Farr 40 Class Mediterranean Circuit, organised, since 1972, by the Yacht Club Costa Smerelda.

Three races were completed in light winds of no more than 8 knots. The first race went to Vincenzo HONORED on Breeze followed by two Italian crews: TWT of Mark RODOLFI and Joe Fly of Giovanni MASPERO.

There was not change in conditions for the second race and this time it was Domenico CLIENTI's Shining SR. Joe Fly took second and the 2003 Farr 40 World Champion Massimo MEZZAROMA's Nerone third.

The third and final race Shining SR took the bullet again to end the first day on six points. Another third place for Joe Fly puts them on second with eight points. Second place went to Rrose, owned by Riccardo BONADEO, who lies in fourth place overall. The final podium spot after day one belongs to Mezzaroma's Nerone which finished fourth in race three to give them a total of twelve points.

Four more races are planned for the event which concludes on Saturday.
