The ISAF Council is the final decision making body of ISAF and comprises the ISAF President and Vice-Presidents, 28 members appointed by the MNAs, the Chairman of the ISAF Oceanic and Offshore Committee, a member appointed by the ISAF Classes Committee a women's representative and a representative from the Athletes' Commission. The Treasurer is also a member but does not have a vote unless he is a member in some other capacity, such as Vice-President. The Presidents of Honour are also non-voting members of the ISAF Council.

The 28 members above are appointed by Groups of Full Members as set out in Schedule A of the Constitution and may be nominated by any of the MNAs in that Group.

Correspondence from the Secretary General regarding Nominations to Council has been sent to all MNAs.

Nomination Deadline

Nominations for Council Members must be notified to the ISAF Secretary General by 12:00 UTC on Friday 26 October 2012. The nomination letter must be signed by the MNA President or Secretary General (or equivalent in position).

In respect of the ISAF policy to achieve representation of both genders on the ISAF Council it is ISAF policy that at least 25% of the Council should be drawn from each gender.

The appointed members of the New Council will be announced at the General Assembly on Saturday 10 November 2012.
