The ISAF is over-dependent on IOC income, we need to find and exploit other sources. To encourage participation by all ISAF members we need the services of simultaneous translators at all major ISAF meetings. I would also look into the possibility of live online broadcasting of ISAF Council meetings. I would review the policy of holding Council meetings in different places. This is an expensive exercise for all those who attend and discourages participation. The ISAF has not grown in tandem to accommodate the expansion of the ISAF membership. We must review the present structure of the Council, the Annual Meeting and the General Assembly to take account not only the expanded ISAF membership but also the weight and importance of each member. Being from a small emerging sailing nation I know the needs, problems and aspirations of emerging sailing nations. We need to better address and accommodate those members. |
