Goals:

My vision for World Sailing

1. Vision for World Sailing's administration, governance and finance
• Determine a clear vision for World Sailing and a long term Strategic Plan - sailors want to know their sport's vision for the coming 20 years.
• World Sailing shall be managed by sailors who have the insight and understanding to work in the best interests of the sport and the sailors around the world.
• Relocate the Executive Office and its operations to Lausanne, Switzerland.
• Relocate the jurisdiction of incorporation to Switzerland and incorporate World Sailing under Swiss law.
• Reorganize and optimize the structure of World Sailing- General Assembly, Council, Board, Committees and Commissions.
• Involve MNAs in the decision making process - one nation one vote on significant decisions.
• Reorganize the Executive Office and develop a more international and multicultural team.
• Encourage and implement gender diversity throughout World Sailing.
• Delegate some World Sailing powers to Continental Associations, whom shall act as continental branches / offices of World Sailing.
• Outsource some activities to external specialist companies, teams or project groups in order to reduce costs and improve service.
• World Sailing finances (including affiliated companies) and allocated project budgets shall be open and transparent.

2. Development of Sailing around the World
• Goal: To make Sailing a universally practised and globally relevant sport from leisure to elite.
• Significantly increase development budget.
• Run diverse development programs, projects and initiatives to create more and new opportunities across all aspects of the sport.
• Co-operate with Continental, Regional and Class Associations in collaborative development programs.
• Focus on target regions, with priority to Africa, Asia, South America, Caribbean, Oceania and Eastern Europe.
• Decrease cost of equipment and increase more accessible equipment for sailors.
• Support sailors from developing nations.
• Establish World Sailing Academy centers in each continent.
• Establish Coaches Education and Training.
• Collaborate with sports funders, business and government to create more opportunities across all aspects of the sport.
• Work to break down barriers and engage more women in sailing.

3. Sailors and Class Associations
• Improve engagement with Sailors and Class Associations.
• Create continental sub-structures of the Athlete's Commission, to involve athletes more in decision making process at continental and regional level and to expand the number of active sailors involved.

4. Olympic Games, Youth Olympic Games and Paralympic Games
• The Olympic Sailing Competition is the pinnacle sailing stage to showcase our sailors and create heroes. The emphasis shall be on sailors, not equipment.
• Decisions on selection of Events and Equipment for the Olympic Games shall be made by World Sailing's General Assembly. MNAs shall have a direct vote on the future of Olympic Sailing.
• There shall not be a change of equipment for Tokyo 2020.
• Pathway equipment shall be the basis of events in the Youth Olympic Games.
• All possible actions shall be made to reinstate sailing in the Paralympic Games,

5. World Sailing Events
• The aims, concept and strategy of the Sailing World Cup shall be reviewed and restructured.
• To increase opportunities for young sailors and developing nations, there shall be open participation to World Sailing Events.
• Co-operate with Class Associations in the organisation of World Sailing Events.
• Create a World Sailing circuit for junior sailors- U23.

6. Media, Marketing and new Technologies
• Establish a specialist company to manage the broadcast and marketing of sailing.
• Lead in identifying and using new technologies to optimize showcasing sailing.
• Increase the media emphasis on sailors.
• Enhance the values and image of sailing to media, fans and institutions.

7. Protect the Environment
• Stage the sport using leading Environmental and Sustainability standards, policies and practices.
• Increase adoption of MNAs, Clubs, Event Organizers, Class Associations and Sailors in environmental protection.
