Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing won the race to the Equator late on Thursday and were in good shape to make the turning mark of Fernando de Noronha at the head of the Volvo Ocean Race fleet as their six rivals were still playing catch-up despite finally escaping the Doldrums.
The second day of the Optimist World Championship saw lighter winds as the fleets were held ashore, waiting for the breeze to build. The first race saw the lightest conditions so far with about 8 knots.
An ISAF Level 1 Technical Course for participation related coaches was successfully delivered in Savu, Fiji in September 2014. The eight participants on the course learnt new techniques of teaching or the delivery of participation related sailing during the week long course.
Day 5 of the Rolex Middle Sea Race has proved a day of reckoning for the competing fleet. The forecast strong northwesterly wind has arrived and consistently blown over 25 knots with gusts exceeding 40 knots. The effect has been to catapult the previously slow moving yachts towards the finish line in Malta.

Despite the best efforts of Tropical Storm Fay and then Hurricane Gonzalo, the Argo Group Gold Cup, the sixth stage of the 2014 Alpari World Match Racing Tour, set sail on Bermuda's Hamilton Harbour , albeit postponed by 24 hours.

The top three teams in the Alpari World Match Racing Tour (AWMRT) were the only teams to keep a perfect score on day one of the inaugural Dutch Match Cup in Lelystad. Ian Williams, Taylor Canfield and Mathieu Richard all returned from the opening salvo of Qualifying with a 3-0 scoreline. However, not all the Tour Card holders got to grips with the Maxfun25 keelboats straight away, with Bjorn Hansen failing to get off the mark in his three matches.

In a masterful display of tenacious match race sailing in today's blustery conditions, Taylor Canfield (ISV) Team US One have successfully defended their Chicago Match Cup title, the only US event on the Alpari World Match Racing Tour (AWMRT). Canfield's US One team consists of tactician Rod Dawson, trimmer Mike Rehe and bowman Hayden Goodrick.
