Ambassadors
The Connect To Sailing Ambassadors are undertaking an entirely voluntary role to engage with Member National Authorities and other sailing stakeholders to establish and lead National Task Forces. They are in place to act as a catalyst and an enabler. The ambassadors will bring together all the relevant stakeholders to supervise and encourage the development of working partnerships in order to promote and deliver the goal of Connect To Sailing.

The Ambassadors have been selected because of their reputation, position and ability to positively influence the Connect To Sailing project and activities and because they have access to and knowledge of both the sport and the industry.

Role of an Ambassador

Connect to Sailing needs global support to move forward and the appointment of Connect to Sailing Ambassadors is a crucial step in achieving the project’s overriding goal to revitalise grass roots participation in all categories of sailing outside elite activity and put sailing firmly back into growth with a focus on youth.

Working in liaison with the Connect to Sailing team, Ambassadors are required to take the Connect to Sailing project to the ISAF Member National Authorities (MNAs) and to help establish Task Forces within each country, and will:

  • Act as an enabler and catalyst in bringing the stakeholders together and to have an active role in setting the strategy and actions that will make a difference.
  • Supervise and encourage the development of new working partnerships between the Sport and Industry.
  • Work with other Ambassadors and groups in other countries to develop best practice for the achievement of the project goals.
  • Assist ISAF in establishing a census on sailing participation levels.
  • Be a formal Connect to Sailing representative and offer advice on behalf of ISAF.
  • Help in identifying areas of need which will help Connect to Sailing fulfil it's vision.

Ambassadors will be appointed because of their reputation, position and ability to positively influence the Connect to Sailing project and activities and usually because they have access to and knowledge of both the sport and the Industry.
