A. Applying for an ISAF Sailor Classification is simple and free. All you need is an email address.
If you never applied for an ISAF Sailor Classification before, follow the instructions below to make your first application.
If you already have an ISAF Sailor ID
If you're not sure that you have an ISAF Sailor ID you can search for yourself on our Sailor Search page here.
Step 1 – Go to www.sailing.org/classification/firstapplication and login to ISAF Sailor using your ISAF Sailor ID and Password in the form at the top of this page.
Step 2 – Apply for an ISAF Sailor Classification by clicking 'Click here to go to the Classification area'.
If you do not have an ISAF Sailor ID
Step 1 - Go to www.sailing.org/classification/firstapplication and fill out the form with you details.
Step 2 - On completing this form you will be assigned an ISAF Sailor ID and able to login in and apply for a Classification by clicking on 'Classification' next to your login details.
In the majority of cases, Classifications are granted straightaway, however in some circumstances the Classification Commission may review your application to ensure you are given the correct Classification.
Please ensure you use a valid email address as this will be used to send you notification of your Classification and communicate with you should the Classification Commission require any further details on your application.
To renew an expired Classification please go to www.sailing.org/classification/renewal and follow the instructions on this page.
Please ensure you have read the ISAF Sailor Classification Code and Classification Code FAQS available from this page www.sailing.org/classification. These documents contain detailed information about the Code and definitions of Group 1, 2 and 3 sailors.
A. Please note now all passwords are case sensitive.

A. Please go to www.sailing.org/classification/updatedetails and logon by entering your ISAF Sailor ID and password and follow the instructions to update your email address or any other details.
Please note, on your Sailor Biog page there is also space for a Public Email address.
A. If you have registered more than once and need to delete a subscription, please click here to contact ISAF, giving the ISAF Sailor ID, password, and answer to the secret question and the ISAF Secretariat will delete that ISAF Sailor ID.
A. So that ISAF can contact you, keep you informed of developments via ISAF Sailor, and if you have registered to receive email Services, so that these can be sent to you. You should note that ISAF will not publish your email address. Email addresses will only be published if you have submitted such information on Your Biography or on your profile on the ISAF Sailors' Forum.
A. The Terms and Conditions clearly set out what information will be published for each part of the ISAF Sailor. As part of the process of applying for a Classification you agreed to accept these Terms and Conditions.
ISAF is unable to stop anybody summiting an application under a false name, or another person's name, although such action is clearly in contravention of the ISAF Sailor Terms and Conditions. However, if such behaviour is taking place, then ISAF will take every step to stop it. If you believe somebody is registered on ISAF Sailor and using your identity, please click here to contact ISAF giving details and ISAF will respond within three business days.
A. Anybody can apply for a Classification. All you need is a valid email address.
