Etchells World Championship
Rosignano Solvay, Italy

Marvin Beckmann racing The Martian at the 2013 Etchells World Championship has opened up a 17 point at Yacht Club Cala de' Medici, Italy and is alienated at the top of the leader board.
Two races were sailed in a westerly turning to north-west breeze up to 12-14 knots making for a very tough and compact fleet: as a matter of fact in less than ten minutes time all the yachts taking part in both races could cross the finishing line.

In the first race of the day (the fourth one of the series) the Swiss yacht skippered by Seamus McHugh (with the 2007 world champion Andy Beadsworth as tactician) took the lead from the beginning and kept at the head of the fleet until the finishing line.

The second race was even tougher than the first one with crowded mark roundings resulted then in a lot of protests: winner of the race was American Argyle Campbell.

After five races, one discard, the leader of the general provisional results is still the boat skippered by American Marvin Beckmann, the second team is the swiss team while European champion Ante Razmilovich is in third place.

Racing resumes on Thursday at 12:00 local time.
