Day Two - Yet another excellent day of sailing

Hobie 14 European Championship
Middelfart

Saturday started sunny with high temperatures – and no wind. That situation gave competitors and officials alike a chance to relax, following Friday’s four races.
Racing did not start until 2 pm after a relocation of the race area to the fjord of Gamborg next to the Middelfart Marina. Wind from SE in 8 to 16 knots.

Two races were completed on Saturday following the short posponement and in the first race, regatta leader Thomas PAATCH recovered from a sketchy start, in which he hit the pin end, requiring him to complete a 360 degree penalty turn. He rounded the first mark in tenth place but with conditions difficult he managed to pull back to the front and win the race. Finishing fifth in race two means he maintains his comfortable lead over the fleet.

Similarly in the youth discipline, Moritz MÜLLER is in a clear lead with 6 straight wins in the division. Overall he is in a tie for fifth place in the overall standings. Full results are available on the event website at the address below.
