Following the incident yesterday morning in Athens, Greece which caused no injuries or significant material damage, the Greek government and the IOC issued the following statements.
Greek government statement
Statement by the Minister of State and Greek government spokesperson, Mr Theodoros Roussopoulos, regarding the security of the Olympic Games:

“According to the up-to-date evidence, this incident is not connected to Olympic preparations. The Greek government treats even isolated incidences with the necessary sense of seriousness and responsibility. The Greek authorities, in cooperation with the relevant European, US and NATO authorities, have designed a security system which guarantees the safety of the Athens Olympic Games.”

International Olympic Committee statement
“The IOC understands from the Greek authorities that, so far, nothing indicates this morning’s incident was related to preparations for this summer’s Olympic Games. We remain in contact with our Greek colleagues, who will keep us informed of any developments.”
