Ainslie Retains Title With Day to Spare

By Securing two first places on the second to last day of the event, Ben AINSLIE (GBR) has successfully defended the Finn European Title he first won last year.
After seven races, he has scored consistently enough in difficult conditions to lead by 13 points from Mateusz KUSZNIEREWICZ (POL), who lies second ahead of Sebastien GODEFROID (BEL).

Commenting on his victory, Ainslie said "I am really happy with how I sailed today and it is good to be so consistent during this event. It is obviously particularly pleasing to have won with a day to spare as all the top guys are competing. The big event is now the ISAF World Championships in Cadiz this September which is my first opportunity to qualify for the Olympics."

As well as being part of individual selection trials for many nations, the ISAF World Championships in Cadiz is also the second opportunity for nations to qualify for an entry to the Olympic Games in Athens next year.
