With only one race completed, racing started yesterday in a Force 2 at 7.15 in the morning yesterday, the whole fleet having been towed 7 miles South in a hunt for breeze.
At the first weathermark Carl Auteried(AUT) was in front of Franz Wageneder and György Wossala (HUN). Tony Clare (GBR) rounded seventh, had a perfect downwind far away from any other boat and was first at the leeward mark. From that time he sailed protect his lead. Wageneder got a second, Auteried a third place. After a short break the wind shifted from south to northeast. At 12.00 the start to the third race took place, and at 14.45 the fourth race was started.
In conditons between 2 and 4 beaufort Carl Auteried was unbeatable. With two first places he won the championship with a race to spare. György Wossala had two second places and was in front of Tony Clare who fell from second to fourth going into the last day.
Racing started at noon today with the newly crowned Masters World Champions watcing from a motorboat. A perfect force 3 met the fleet and as they made their way up the first beat it was Franz Wageneder who emerged in the lead. György Wossala, however, got through to win the last race, and secure his second place in the championship.
