The 109 boats in the men’s fleet sailed three races, in an attempt to get ahead of schedule in case the wind was not favourable the next day, whilst the 60 women’s teams managed two races.

Simon Cooke/Peter Nicholas of New Zealand currently lead the men’s fleet with a total of seven points, with Paul Forester/Kevin Burnham of America in third place. The men have one more race to sail in the qualifying round of the championships before being split into gold, silver and bronze fleets.

In the women’s fleet European champions Sofia Bekatorou/Emilia Tsoulfa of Greece currently lead the charge for the world title. After a discard they have a total of four points, and lead by three points from Lisa Westerhof/Margriet Matthijisse of Holland.

The women have two more races to sail of the qualifying rounds before being split into gold and silver fleets.

Both fleets will sail a further five days of gold, silver and bronze fleet finals, with a total of fourteen races deciding who will take home the world titles.
