Holt RYA Olympic UK Qualifier

Hayling Island Sailing Club

The Hayling Island Holt RYA Olympic UK Quaifier took place at the weekend. Racing took place in the Finn, Europe, 470 and 49er classes.
Finn (17 entries) - First was Ben Ainslie with results of 1.75, 2, 3, 1, 1 followed by 'Bart' Simpson with 3.75, 7, 2, 3, 4 and Charlie Cumberley in third with 3.75, 6, 5, 2, 2. John Greenwood had been the early leader with wins in the first two races.

Europe (12 entries) - Kirsty Bonar won with results of 2, 1, 2, 4, 1, with Debbie Winstanley in second with 3, 2, 1,1, 3 just one point behind and Andrea Brewster third with 5, 3, 3, 5, 2.

470 (10 entries) - Clive Goodwin and Douglas Powell finished second despite winning two races with results of 1, 8, 1, 6, 2 to Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield who won with 2.75, 3, 5, 2, 1. Neil Marsden and Graham Nelson took third with 4, 5, 9, 1, 4.

49er (28 entries) - On form Paul Brotherton and Mark Asquith with results of 2, 1, 1, 3, 3, just edged out Alistair Richardson and Peter Greenhalgh, 5, 2, 3, 1, 1, with Chris Draper and Simon Hiscocks taking third with 3, 3, 2, 2, 2.
