Oman Sail have taken delivery of their first RS Ventures, the biggest dinghy in the RS Sailing training boat range whilst Omnia Marine in China has selected the training boats to supply their sailing centres.
RS Venture Chosen For Oman Sail's Large Training Dinghy Requirements

Oman Sail have just taken delivery of their first RS Ventures, the biggest dinghy in RS Sailing's training boat range with capacity for up to eight sailors, weighing 680kg (1500lbs).

This huge capacity is what attracted Oman Sail to the RS Venture. Few other dinghies come close. The stability, easy handling and robust construction are also ideal for their training centres and add to their ability to teach large numbers of Omanis to sail.

Oman Sail have chosen the ballasted centreboard option for their Ventures, giving the security (and space) normally found in much larger keelboats, but at significantly lower cost. They opted for asymmetric spinnakers, Dacron mainsails with a slab reefing system and roller furling jibs for versatility of training use, from total beginners up to more advanced techniques.

The Ventures will be alongside many other RS boats at Oman Sail. Their largest fleet is the RS Quba, with approaching 100 boats now in use. Oman Sail's Director of Training, Neil Coxon, said, "We think the Qubas are absolutely brilliant - we use them for one or two kids or an adult and there is no better training dinghy with this versatility. They're strong, stable, easy to handle and can be reefed in moments, even on the water by an instructor in a RIB. They sail so well that we see the Quba as a key training boat on the way to racing bigger single-handers such as the Laser."

The first RS Ventures will be sailing on Oman's beautifully clear warm water by the time you read this!

RS Training Boats Selected In China

Omnia Marine in China have recently selected RS training boats for their aim to supply the best boats to new sailing centres opening during the fast building introduction of sailing in their country. Omnia examined the options around the world and chose RS after recommendations by several key people and National Sailing Federations who also chose RS boats for similar grass roots training projects.

The RS All-Purpose sailboat range is ideal for entry level training of children and adults. Two of the boats, the RS Tera and RS Feva, are also ISAF International Classes offering an exciting pathway through training and racing up to international level. The boats are built using the super strong RS Comptec PE3 rotomoulded construction system - perfect for intensive fleet use. Equally importantly, the responsive handling and rewarding performance of RS boats has been proven to provide a modern and inspirational introduction to sailing. This keeps new sailors hooked and coming back for more on their experience and size pathway.

Omnia's first shipment is scheduled to leave RS during October and will include the five model RS training boat line-up, from the RS Tera (junior single hander) up to the RS Venture (for up to 7 pupils plus instructor).

RS Managing Director, Martin Wadhams, said, "There is a lot happening to develop sailing in China, which is great news for the thousands of people that will get involved with our sport. RS training boats have been selected for both big and small projects across the world and it's great that the feedback from them convinced Omnia to choose RS. We're very excited at the prospect of working with Omnia Marine to and seeing RS boats at many sailing centres in China."
