With the top spot all but decided, Nick Dempsey (GBR) enters Tuesday's race in second place with 35 points and will focus on winning the silver in front of his home crowd lining the Nothe peninsular above the course. This Olympics marks the first time sailing has completed medal races in front of paying spectators. Toni Wilhelm (GER) is 11 points behind Dempsey in third place so looks set for a vast improvement on his only previous Olympic result when he finished in 30th in the Mistral at Athens 2004. Przemyslaw Miarczynski (POL) is among the medal contenders and goes into the double-points race in fourth, six points behind Wilhelm.

Marina Alabau (ESP) will have her sights set firmly on gold when she sets off in the women's RS:X medal race with a 14-point lead on Tuesday. Lee-el Korsiz (ISR) and Tuuli Petaja (FIN) enter the race in joint second, and will be challenging Alabau (ESP) for the top spot. Moana Delle (GER) is just one point behind Korsiz and Petaja, and Zofia Noceti-Klepacka (POL) is three, so both women are well within medal contention.

It won't be champagne sailing today in Weymouth as an approaching weather front will bring patchy rain which will become heavier and persist throughout the afternoon.

A 10 knots breeze with gusts of 20 knots is also forecast.

The Men's 470 finish their round of fleet races before the Medal Race whilst the Women's Match Racers head into the Quarter Finals.
